Mouth Shut !
My grandfather once told me that there were two kinds of people: those who do the work and those who take the credit. He told me to try to be in the first group; there was much less competition.
Indira Gandhi
Now isn't that true? I had been in the first group for long until I realized that its time to be in both groups. I still deal with people who religiously follow the second category. They do no work, just boast and take all the credit... and oh my god, they boast with so much confidence! There was a time, when I thought they were just helping me, only to find out later that they were helping themselves by doing nothing but boasting! That makes me wonder..don't they feel guilty about it?.. don't they feel they should have given a helping hand... aahh what helping hand.. they are a part of the team and they should have put in equal efforts. They have time for parties, movies and even falling ill but they rarely have time for work. These kind of species are interesting and then they are tagged as 'talented', 'all rounders' until they are recognized by people around. I've myself fallen into this trap and believe me I trust no one! These creatures should be kept in caves where cannibals live or even better, sent back to the time of dinosaurs through a time machine and that machine should disappear or beak down once they are there. ugh!
And then I came across this quote (the above one). It actually calmed me down. I don't crib when I come across boasters. I accept them whole heartily. Now I have my own way of dealing with them *evil laugh* What I do is... when they finish boasting the usual blah blah in front of professors, I start with a new function used in the project that interest the professors and then for the boasters its mouth shut. They know nothing about it and hence have nothing to boast. Their expression is worth seeing *evil laugh* But its sad, that they don't change. well, who wants them to change?! Keep boasting and keep making the professors realize that you are just a 'good-for-nothing' moron. Cheers!
These things make me laugh. How much we try to compete each other no? Still, it's really fun to trick the boasters into keeping their 'Mouth Shut'.

After reading this, I too believe I should spend time practicing the 2nd group. Competition or not, it will make life!
ReplyDeleteSach,
ReplyDeletehehe, no don't. together we'll send those 2nd group people to stone age! what say? :P
Tingu from wat of klnow of you...i would definitely say you fall in the category of people who do work but dont get the required credit
ReplyDeleteBut as said but some one
"Kaam kar Fal ki Chinta mat kar"
avi,
ReplyDelete*sniff sniff* ya u definitely know me *sob sob* :P But u see, me trying my best to absorb the qualities of both the groups. Nahi toh meri band bajegi. :P
well, that someone who said, 'Karm kar phal ki chinta mat kar' was seriously involved into something non-productive and non-competitive. :P
bdw, that 'someone' was Lord Krishna and if Mahabharata was suppose to take place now, Lord Krishna would have definitely said, 'Karm kar aur Phal ki chinta zarooor kar' :D
I bet if krishna would have not changed his thinking iam sure you would have forced him to change
ReplyDelete:D ya right..
ReplyDeleteyou know I dunt have to force him to. One project stay with boasters and he would have himself changed his words. :)
Man this reminds me of a post I wrote a long time ago...
ReplyDeleteAll I want to say is, working alone on something you wanna do is the most blissful experience on the planet. :D
Alokus...
ReplyDeleteseriously ya, I wish 'Group Projects' would also mean 'you can work alone with yourself' :( pity us.. thats not possible!

Yep... I read it.. it is so damn relevant in daily life...
But at academics level ... we use to make projcts wid our dear friends ... so there no one would ever dare do such things.. but at professional level... you have to make sincere efforts ... and once it becomes mundane.. people always know that you are the one who always works...
Are you doing BMS or related programs... BCBI...BACF all ??
LOL, this third category seems interesting and true!
ReplyDeleteOmi, U must have had sincere project mates during college, that's why I see no complains (and now me envies you ;)) As far as professional level is considered, there's still time for me to experience that :D, so no comments on the 'third category'
