Life's Manual
I have heard people saying, 'Forget your Past... Your Future is More Important.'
I say, HOW? How can something that is not yet seen be more important than what is happening. How can it be more important than my Present?
In fact My Past, My Present and My Future.. All are Mine. All define me and not just my Present. I'm what I am, because of my Past. I will be what I'm suppose to be because of my Present which will be my Past in Future. If I forget that, I'll lose everything- My Present and My Future.
My past - good or bad, its Mine. Nothing can take it away from me. Nothing can make me forget it. (except for Aamir's Gajini-Short term memory loss ;)) I can do just two things..
1. For Good memories : Cherish them
2. For Bad memories : Learn from it and move ahead.
I believe, GOD, a supernatural power does exist. People say, "Nature Existed"
Ok Agreed.
But who made it happen?
GOD.
What made it happen?
GOD.
What made GOD happen?
Nature.
Back to Square One, huh? Some questions have NO answers! :)
Talking about EGO... it is just a three alphabets word. "Why should I?" that is an ego, isnt it? All have it in them. Maybe that is just one of the many powers we humans possess.. a negative power. Wait.. Am I judging? Who am I to categorize it as a negative or a positive power? Isn't it upto the individual to decide it for themselves? See, that's another power we are gifted with.
Yes, I judge people. I perceive people. I have no rights to judge, but I still do it at times. It's a personal opinion. That's human nature. But what is appropriate is to keep the judgment to ourselves. Would I like if somebody categorises me as Good or Bad? No. I wouldn't. So, if I don't appreciate it, others might as well wouldn't like it. So it's simple. Whatever you do, keep it yourself.
According to me, a milder name for Judgement is Perception. Judgment or Perception, both need prior knowledge to be entered into the memory to be interpreted. But judgement according to me is a quick and harsh decision. Wait for some more time, gather more data, analyze and come out with an accurate result called Perception. Judging is an attempt to create reality irrespective of the fact whether it exists or not, whereas Perception is an attempt to showcase reality with more or less accurate results.
But We all are Unique Individuals. None of us want to be judged or perceived by someone else other than our own self. So the best thing is, Accept people as they are or Leave them.
This is LIFE. Understand the Instructions and Live it. We have the powers, but what we need to learn is HOW to use them to make this life beautiful. :)
PS: Inspired by Alok's 'Ego' post! Thanks Buddy. You make me Think. ;)

1. What I was trying to say was: The past doesn't define you. What you are doing with your present does. And that defines what you can be.
ReplyDeleteIf you made a mistake in your past, it doesn't matter. What you do with your present in order to rectify or learn from that mistake is more important.
Of course your past is yours, but living your present in its shadow is refusing to change.
2. God vs. Nature:
Believe what you want.
3. Let me tell you something that happened to me yesterday:
I was near Charni Road station when a poor, middle-aged lady and her teenaged son approached me saying they spent the whole day searching for a job here but didn't get one, and needed some money for food.
Now I could have altogether ignored them, judging them as beggars. But I looked at them and perceived:
What he was doing (asking for money) was making the boy tremble because it hurt him to ask money from others. It was clear he wasn't good at this.
Next, before speaking to me, they asked if I could speak in Marathi, and insisted to speak in that. Would a beggar do that?
Last, they were not appealing to my pity, (as beggars do), they were appealing to my reason.
I gave them the money.
That is the difference between Judgment and Perception.
Situations require you to perceive. If you perceive, you will automatically be humble and will discover something new about the world everyday.
4. Ego: Is perceiving yourself, understanding what you are and then believing yourself greater than any problem in this world.
Well Written.
ReplyDeleteI guess if we do that, living life would have been just too boring :D
Even when we are aware of it, we do tend to judge people and categorize them. Something that cannot be changed.
Alok,
ReplyDeleteWhatever said Agreed.
But one thing... your perception was wrong in this case. They made a fool outta you. :P These people say such things to get Money from you. You can find many people like these at a place I will tell you later.
Pity, We say 'I Perceive' and feel as if we are some Philosophers, but what we actually do is Judge them.. in a milder way ofcourse. :)
For Me.. This is Judgment. What I'm doing right now is also Judgment(categorizing my thoughts as Judgment or Perception), just that I'm going a bit deeper into it, analyzing it and getting some more information before putting my thoughts. Oh sorry, Perceiving in your words, right? ;)
Take care! :)
Yogesh,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my Blog :)
Yes, what to do.. We need fun in life, we want to make people believe (just like everyone) that "I know more than you" and "You should follow what I say".
As you said.. It's Human tendency.
We Judge and we Perceive them too.
Both words are different and same.
Take Care :)
oye hello..
ReplyDeleteWell people judge others all the time... but its such a cognitive process that we dont realize the act... and its really funny to know that we are making a big deal out of it... what you do with your life is your decision ... if that includes judging others so be it... and who says i havent got any right to judge any one?? and that tooo with my mind?? and that tooooo in my life... get going guys....
making perception only helps to take a relation further as you will do all ur acts accordingly ... as it wont b extempore or hurtsum!!
btw Alok they made a complete dufus of u .... these type of peiople come to me all the time...
hyello Omi,
ReplyDeleteYes. That is what I meant. I would like it ONLY if no one else but I judge myself. Judge your OWN self, PERCEIVE your OWN self. No one on this earth can raise a question against it.
But if I judge you, you will hang me upside down, right?
lolz yes, I pity Alok here! :D
wrong perception.. wrong perception ;)
Perception or judgment whatever considered, actually narrows down the human outlook, that's what I believe.
ReplyDeleteConsciously or sub-consciously, we stay away from quite a lot of people. Why? Because we get a notion that we might not gel well with them, they're not our type, they won't like being with us and the like. Often reality has an entirely different tale to tell.
Whatever, a thought provoking post.
that particular phrase is used when something bad/wrong has happened in the past..
ReplyDeleteand it said to motivate oneself so that he/she dosent ponder over the bad/wrong thing and spoil the future..
i guess some sayins must be taken with a pinch of salt
@ Mahul,
ReplyDeleteYes, Perception and Judgment actually narrows done the outlook towards humanity.
Yes, people tend to categorize themselves, but if others do that to them, they violate. That's human tendency.
@ Rakesh,
ReplyDeleteWell, that is what we assume. But it it something that is taken for all aspects. Be it good or bad, as I said, the past moulds us and the present defines us.
SAYINGS were taken from a person's life experience. We need to learn from others mistakes or achievements.
Not all sayings should be taken with a pinch of salt.. a pinch of sugar will do ;)
Ciyo!
