Cousin attack

oh god so much to do. got 'computer networks' test day after tomorrow. have to complete the e brochure. have to execute 'microprocessor' programs. have to get the IP program list. and I need to Study too... Wonder whether I will be able to finish all these in the nick of time. Then I need to take time for my cousin too, my sweet chunk of sugar, SK. She has given me orders to talk with her daily :P Shes the best cousin I've ever had. She came home today and I felt so good to catch up with her after so long. Suddenly my mundane world lightened up. :)

one-eyed mother

My mom only had one eye. I hated her... she was such an embarrassment. She cooked for students & teachers to support the family. There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to say hello to me. I was so embarrassed. How could she do this to me? I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school one of my classmates said, "eeeee, your mom only has one eye!" I wanted to bury myself. I also wanted my mom to just disappear. I confronted her that day and said, "If you're only gonna make me a laughing stock, why don't you just die?" My mom did not respond... I didn't even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because I was full of anger. I was oblivious to her feelings. I wanted her out of that house, and have nothing to do with her. So I studied real hard, got a chance to go abroad to study. Then, I got married. I bought a house of my own. I had kids of my own. I was happy...

Recuperating from life

At times I truly feel I don't have the latent to stand up to everyone's expectations! Avin's post, "an excellent remainder" actually put me to think. Why do we forget ourselves and dance to the tune of the universe. Why is it that we desperately crave to go ahead of time and once we are there, we long to go back to our past? Though I've never understood life's concepts, I assume, the reason is all because we are humans and so we follow the norm of being unsatisfied with what we have. We dream of living a luxurious life; a life where we want happiness, a life where we can only smile. In an attempt to achieve this 'all' we drain ourselves so much to the core that we finally end up realizing we haven't lived our lives at all. Responsibilities and Expectations weigh us down and we tend to become hackneyed. We try to smile through everything. Now for a change, as they say, Life is not a Bed of Roses, let's be practical and accept the fact; Lif...

An unprepared death

I went to a party, And remembered what you said. You told me not to drink, Mum So I had a sprite instead. I felt proud of myself, The way you said I would, That I didn't drink and drive, Though some friends said I should. I made a healthy choice, And your advice to me was right, The party finally ended, And the kids drove out of sight. I got into my car, Sure to get home in one piece, I never knew what was coming, Mum Something I expected least. Now I'm lying on the pavement, And I hear the policeman say, The kid that caused this wreck was drunk, Mum, his voice seems far away. My own blood's all around me, As I try hard not to cry. I can hear the paramedic say, This girl is going to die. I'm sure the guy had no idea, While he was flying high, Because he chose to drink and drive, Now I would have to die. So why do people do it, Mum Knowing that it ruins lives? And now the pain is cutting me, Like a hundred stabbing knives. Someone should have taught him, That it's wr...

A True Thing

It was a busy morning, approximately 8:30 a.m ., when an elderly gentleman in his 80's, arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him. I saw him look at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound. While taking care of his wound, we began to engage in conversation. I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I then inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer' s Disease . As we talked, I asked ...
